share on:

The Independent National Election Commission has cancelled the National Assembly election and postponed it to Monday due to logistic issues that occurred today.

The INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega apologized to Nigerians for this unfortunate development  at a press conference in Abuja. He announced that the elections have been postponed till Monday and “The decision we have taken is weighty indeed but it is an important step in further ensuring the credibility of the 2011 elections

He blamed the non-arrival and delayed delivery of electoral materials for the postponement. He said the postponement was justified as voting had not commenced at any polling centre across the country.

People remember that no matter the difficulties, we must go out and ensure our vote counts. Go out on Monday and Vote
