Recruitment: Tension Among Applicants As Police Website Is Suspended

The authorities of the Nigerian Police Force have disclosed that it received 897,170 applications as at 4 p.m. on May 11 from applicants seeking enlistment into the Force.

The update was brought to light by the Head, Press and Public Relations of the Police Service Commission (PSC), Mr Ikechukwu Ani, in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to him, 259,046 applications were received for Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) cadre.

Ani added that 209,067 and 429,057 applicants applied for the Inspector and Police Constable (PC) cadres, respectively.

The commission recently said in a statement that it would recruit 500 Cadet ASP, 500 Cadet Inspectors, 1,500 Specialist Officers and 7,500 Constables in the recruitment of 10,000 policemen.

It would be recalled, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Solomon Arase, had said that about 800, 000 applicants that applied for the 10, 000 available slots, were suspected to be within the age of 30 and 34 years,

The police chief made it clear that most of the applicants will not get the job as they have failed the stipulated age limit which is 28.

NAN recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari approved the recruitment of 10,000 policemen into the nation’s Police Force to reinforce the police for better service.

The exercise would end on May 13, 2016.

  1. Please I need some clarifications on the police job. I applied for the job when I was still 28 years but turned 29 years two weeks later. I’m confused as I don’t know my chances cos I read the statement of IGP saying anyone above 28 won’t be selected. Do I still stand a chance? Or am I disqualified?
