Anthony Martial leaves Manchester United’s pre-season tour of the United States to attend the birth of his son.
French forward Anthony Martial has been granted permission to leave Manchester United’s pre-season tour early to attend the birth of his son.
The 22-year-old forward, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, joined the rest of his team-mates on board their flight to the United States.
He, however, flew home from Los Angeles to be with girlfriend Melanie Da Cruz and will not play against AC Milan at the StubHub Center on Wednesday.
He is also the father of two-year-old Peyton, his daughter from a previous marriage to Samantha Jacquelinet.
According to the Daily Mail, Martial approached Mourinho for special permission to leave United’s training camp in Los Angeles and the Portuguese was understanding of the situation.
His departure comes at a time when the 22-year-old is actively trying to leave the club.
ESPN quoted sources as saying that Mourinho is ready to cash in because he does not want to upset the dressing room with an unhappy player.
Bayern Munich, Tottenham and Chelsea are among the clubs interested in the former Monaco man but sources say that United will not even consider a switch to another Premier League club.
